This occurred in my state. A man got a surprise one morning when a raccoon with rabies tried to eat his dog. The raccoon gets his just desserts however when he encounters a lumber truck driver.

The video appears after the page loads, above the still photo of the man with his dog. Perhaps it's different when viewed in the U.K.?

When I went to sleepaway camp in upstate New York we would camp in the woods in sleeping bags and sometimes raccoons would come by. We were told to always keep away from them because they could have rabies. Once Maljonic and I saw a woman here in York with a raccoon on a leash. It was very cute.

Several years ago I lived in a wooded area where the raccoons came out in the evening to forage. I put bread crumbs out and they started coming out earlier and earlier. One morning I went to step out to go to work and there was one waiting to come in. Had to stop feeding them after that. They can become domesticated.
