For as long as I can remember I have been having dreams with the same woman in it. The only problem is that I never see her face. Whenever she turns to reveal her identity, usually a bright light blocks out her face and I wake up. On occasion though, there is an object blocking her face. Sometimes she is in my entire dream and sometimes she is there for only a few seconds. Any thoughts on what it may possibly mean? A few months ago I was in a car accident and lost all use of my right arm after almost losing it. Since then, I have had four similar dreams, all in the same location. She appears in all of them... The first dream started with me sitting next to her on a beach. We sat there for hours in silence, listening to the waves and watching a man surfing. The odd part was that we were on the beach to a lake and not to the ocean. The waves seemed to generate there which I did not understand why. When I turned to look at her, a bright light blinded me and I woke up. In the second dream, I was sitting on the same beach, by myself. I sat there with my feet in the sand, watching the waves. Suddenly she comes walking along the water, but her face is hidden by her hat. She then sits in the sand only a few yards in front of me. Knowing that I would wake up, I did not engage her. Instead, I laid back in the sand and watched the clouds. It felt as if I laid there for hours. Suddenly as she started to come into picture, standing over the top of me, a bright light blocked her out and I woke up. In the third dream, I was with her on the same beach. This time we sat there all day taking turns drawing in a sketchbook. We kept adding something, until we filled the page. After filling the entire book, I only remember the last page. The last page was a drawing of us, sitting in the sand. There was also the line " I finally found a way back into your stare" written in the wet sand. When I got up to see if something was actually written in the sand, there was nothing there. As I stood there for a moment, the line " My bright is too slight to hold back all the dark" appeared. Suddenly a wave erased it and I woke up. In my fourth dream, I was the surfer in the water. I sat on my board, just floating in the water. The woman was sitting on the beach as I sat there watching her. Because of the distance, I could not see her face. I remember the feeling of the water under me as I sat there running my hand through the water. The mysterious woman then got up and started walking to the water. She was walking towards me. As she got close enough to identify, a wave took me out and I woke up. Since the accident, I have had these dreams, along with many other randoms. These four were different though. I am only able to remember these in such great detail because I document them in a journal. I have always had extremely vivid dreams, but ever since the accident, my dream patterns have changed dramatically. If there is anyone who can help me figure these dreams out, please do so..
I think that your dreams have changed since your accident as the result of your going through a great deal of trauma. Dreaming of a woman whose face you can never see could have to do with your mind having to readjust and figure out how to get you working again - your body has become a new, unfamiliar thing. The water in a the dreams could have to do with rebirth, since before we are born we are in a liquid environment. After the accident you were "reborn" in a way. Water also behaves as a mirror, so the water could be about learning to see yourself in a new way. Have you told a doctor that your dreams have changed since your accident?
No, I have not told my doctor about my dreams shifting spectrums. Is it something important that I should mention?
I don't think it would hurt to mention it to your doctor. Your dreams could be telling you aboout something that has changed in your body that you aren't consciously aware of.
