Hi, I'm new here and have this recurring dream that is driving me nuts. My father died when I was 17, (I am 51 now) we were on vacation and he got sick with pneumonia. This is what I keep dreaming: I dream that I see my father at some randam place and he was never really dead, he has just been away. He pretends he doesn't know me and won't talk to me. Eventually he will talk to me like nothing ever happened.
Do you feel that there were things that you would like to have said to your father but never had a chance to? Do you have children of your own? Are you worried that you don't communicate with them as well as you would like to? The dream could also be about communication between people with different levels of authority, not necessarily family members.
I also am new to this site and I just posted a thread which I think I put in the wrong place. Anyway, I have had many a dream which I can relate to things happening in my life and many dreams which seem totally pointless. But I have also had many dreams where I am convinced I am being communicated to from beyond the grave. I am not saying this is what is happening to you but I do believe that our dead relatives can communicate to us from beyond. The weird thing is, I have this weird theory which I have no idea why I have it, but I believe when someone dies, they have a certain period of time where they can still easily communicate to us. But that also requires our being receptive to the communication.
That's an interesting theory. Sometimes when we dream of a dead person speaking to us, it is really our unconscious speaking to us, using a quality of that person to add to the message. For example, if your kind, compassionate grandmother speaks to you, it could be a reminder that when you make a decision, you should consider how it will affect others. Or if it is your strong, determined aunt, your unconscious could be telling you that you should be more focused on your goal.
