A recent study by the European Science Foundation has found a similarity between the brain patterns in people when they are dreaming lucidly and the brain patterns caused by psychoses such as schizophrenia.

The article discusses the possibility that these psychotic conditions could be related to the evolutionary role of dreams as a means of teaching people to respond to threats, something that has already been mentioned on this website.

Meaningofdreams.org has also previously pointed out that the distinction between dreaming and waking is not often clearcut, in both “normal” and brain damaged people.

Mark Solms believes that there is a link between dreaming and dopamine production, and schizophrenia is related to issues with dopamine production.

Scientists have thought that there was a relationship between schizophrenia and dreaming for a long time.

Scientists have long considered that there could be a relationship between dreaming and the hallucinations of schizophrenia.
