When I sleep at night I have random dreams like I usually have, but if I nap during the day I keep having the same type of dream.

They're not identical but they're always similar.

I'm in some apartment I haven't seen before. I have an overwhelming feeling of loneliness and every time it's always a different apartment. There's hardly any other tenants that I can see and it's always really quiet. I have the feeling that I don't know anyone and I can't see anyone if I wanted to because I am alone.

When I wake up from these dreams, it extends to real life. I am really lonely and depressed for about an hour. In fact I just woke up from one and it bothered me enough to find this website, make an account and make this inquiry.

What does this mean and how can I stop it?

Do you share an apartment with others? The dream could be a balance in that you want more privacy and alone time but arent' getting it. If you do in fact live alone, the dreams could be reflecting your inner emotional state. Maybe the reason you have these dreams during the day is because you have more time to focus on your inner state. Are you more relaxed at night and relieved that the day is done? This could be why you don't have these types of dreams at night, at least not that you recall.

Thank you, that makes sense. I live alone and have been for over a year. I have a hard time sleeping at night actually, but I usually have at least 6 hours of sleep (it's normal for me) from 5am till around noon where I don't have this type of dream(I am in transition between college and career, so I can sleep in that late)

These naps happen in the late afternoon. I don't really feel depressed or lonely otherwise, just when I have these dreams. I do see my family and friends often, so I'm not sure if I need to more or what it is.

    MaxPowers,

It can be very lonely to be at college away from family,
friends and familiar surroundings. I think you are missing
the intimacy from those relationships. This is causing you
to have a fear of being alone and possibly you are afraid
that you will not get that intimacy again.

But don't dispair, there are many intimate relationships
that you will have after this period of transition.
