Very vague. I am walking on a trail into an autumn forest. I remember making coyote calls. Something changes, and I am seeing different birds of prey...all kinds of amazing hawks and eagles, owls and more obscure species I've never heard of. I am taking in so much information. Then, I am in the autumn forest, controlling the flight of an owl from a remote. After looping the trails many times, I am aware that I am now in the owl's body. I feel unsteady in this body as I try to navigate my flight through the trees. The scenery changes into a building (an indoor arena I have ridden horses in). There are people on the ground in here that I know in my waking life. I am flying over them, and I swoop down on a few and they smile at me. I bank left and the scenery changes, a quick but very smooth change, almost like a portal, and I am back in the autumn forest. I circle many times through these two places, enjoying my airy journey. I'm told owls are very symbolic. I also have had a different dream, in which I was galloping through tall grass like a horse and playing with an eagle owl that was flying above me.
I think all of the animal imagery in your dream has to do with accessing parts of yourself that are usually kept hidden. The different animals represent different aspects of yourself. Birds, in general, are usually associated with freedom, so this could have to do with liberating parts of your personality. I associate owls with wisdom, so this could have to do with knowing when and how to do this.
It's baffling how often your interpretations are an accurate reflection of my life and thoughts. Anyway, I'd agree that the instinctive and animal qualities of my dreams have to do with accessing hidden parts of myself. Freedom is something I feel I am often lacking...freedom of choice, freedom of expression, freedom of movement. I was thinking that the owls may be a thrown-in image from my daytime hours (I see owl images daily), but maybe to represent knowledge or wisdom, or access to the hidden parts that are related to knowledge or wisdom.
I didn't realize this. What is the context in which you see the owl images? That could have something to do with the meaning of the dream.
I browse a lot of art/photography daily, usually in the nature section, and it's not uncommon to see a few new owl photos every day. Owls perched in trees, owls flying over a field...none particularly unusual.
You must see other types of animals frequently as well. Can you think of any reason why the owl photos might make more of an impression on you than photos of other animals?
I see hundreds of animal photos as I browse the nature section... Why the owls seem prominent over my more favored creatures, I really don't know. It could be they embody some traits that I can identify with? I'm told I am intelligent, but very shy and secretive...you don't often see owls, though they see you, even in the dark. Owls are usually nocturnal, and I prefer to stay up very late to enjoy the quiet once everyone is asleep.
